Blueberry Pancakes

Tim has been making blueberry pancakes for breakfast quite a bit recently. Reagan likes to help cook, so on Friday, she helped with the milk and mixing and then we all enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Happy Easter

We had a good Easter day. Reagan and I spent the morning eating candy from her Easter basket, listening to our new Rocknoceros cds, finally dyeing our eggs, and playing at the playground.

Blue was her favorite. We only made the purple, because I didn’t like having so many blue eggs, so the last one went in the pink, too.

After a nap for Reagan and Tim finally getting home from a bachelor party, we got dinner together and had some friends over for a little egg hunt in the basement and a delicious dinner.

Can you spot the ‘hidden’ egg?

7 minutes later… We eventually gave them a hint on that one.

And, thank you for the dress, Sophie. It was perfect.

Puppet Show

Though it’s getting warmer, Saturday was a little dreary, so we headed for a somewhat indoor activity – the toddler puppet show at Glen Echo Park with Jack and his mom, Jennifer. Though we’ve lived in DC for nearly 8 years and we’ve driven past this park many times, we had never actually gone. It’s a 100+ year old park that has been kept up really well and has a lot of events and activities.

We saw a show about penguins and they ice skated, jumped, juggled, and jumped around some more. Reagan and Jack were completely enthralled and we will definitely be back to see another show and hopefully ride the 90 year old carousel.

(I know, her molars are coming in and her teeth are killing her.)

Despite the dreariness, we spent some time playing on the playground and even had fun on the swings and running around with Jack.

Pocket?

A little Ring Around the Rosie before bed tonight…

And, that’s our awesome new blue living room wall color. It replaces the red that had been in that room for 6 years and has really brightened up the room. Once all the work is done, we’ll replace the rug.

Atlantic City Aquarium

The last time we were in New Jersey, we took a drive down to the Atlantic City Aquarium. It is past most of the casinos and and back through what seems to be a quiet neighborhood. Granted, it was March and super windy, so it was pretty chilly anywhere near the beach. It was the perfect place to pass some time, though.

It is a small place with a not very large shark/dive tank on the first floor, petting tanks on both floors, and a few other exhibits to see. The petting tanks were a big hit with both Reagan and Tim.

And, Reagan did wear weather appropriate clothes that day, but she got too close to practically in the water, so we took her long sleeve shirt off to try to keep her dry.IMG_3938

We weren’t too successful ;)

But, it was fun and left us dreaming of summer and the beach.

House phone

For some reason, one of the most frustrating things in this whole renovation – besides not being finished yet – is our house phone. Yes, we still have one, mostly because I like to have a phone by the bed that’s not going to make noise all night with emails coming in.

A few weeks ago, they put a new phone jack in and, all of a sudden, our phone wasn’t working, but the internet was mostly working. So, we bought a new phone – the old one conveniently stopped working and I wanted 3 handsets, so we can have one in the basement, too -and Verizon came out and looked at our box and fixed something. Everything was working great and then for some reason, the phone stopped working again. We moved it around to different jacks and it just kept saying “no line”.

So, for some reason, as I was heading to bed last night and deciding whether to take my cell phone up with me, I decided to see what was going on with the phone. Turns out, it wasn’t plugged in the phone jack! Phew, check that off the list.

Quick Catch Up

Things have been very busy for us. I even have some pictures, though they are on the cameras, which are upstairs at the moment.

The weekend after we got back from Puerto Rico, we went up to New Jersey for the weekend. We got some good family and friends time in – a trip to the Atlantic City aquarium, dinner to meet Michelle’s fiance’s parents, spending the night with some friends, and lunch with Tim’s uncle and cousins.

We’ve had a quiet couple of weekends in DC since then. We had a chilly breakfast picnic with our neighborhood babysitting coop and then last Saturday was our annual neighborhood cleanup. It was really quite an adventure of a day with rain and wind threatening to cancel the barbeque and, a few hours later, hail ending it. But, we met quite a few new neighbors and had a great day!

And, our nanny’s last day with us was last week, so we started with a new nanny and share family this week. It’s been a little stressful for Reagan, but she’s getting used to the change.

Our spring and early summer weekends are starting to fill up, but hopefully not too much.
