Fun in France

We've been having an awesome time so far. There were chickens and other animals near the house we stayed at in Burgundy, so we visited with them a few times.

We all really enjoyed the Rodin Museum in Paris and now we've made it to Lausanne, Switzerland for the next few days.

A few for the road

We don’t know when we’ll get to a computer and be able to post again, so here are a few pictures from the last week or so to hold you all over until we get back.

A week of prep

So, we’re leaving in 5 4 short days and there is very little packed. But, we do have the start of a packing list and a place to sleep each night we’ll be gone. This is definitely the most planning we’ve done for an overseas trip yet.

We’ll leave on Friday and get to Geneva early Saturday morning. We pick up a car and head to a rented cottage in Change, France for four nights. It’s a super small village in the heart of the Burgundy (Bourgogne) region. Then, we drive to Paris and drop off the car. We’ll stay there and explore Paris and the surrounding area for five days. Finally, we’ll go to Lausanne, Switzerland to visit with my sister and her family there. And it’s possible Tim and I will take a night or two from there and head out on our own. Then – not that I’m ready to think about this part already – a daytime flight home in time to recover a bit over Memorial Day.

We are super excited to get some time away, explore France and especially Paris, eat delicious foods – Reagan is loving cheese and olives right now, so she should be fine – and see my sister and her fam. The fact that the trip is flanked by Mother’s Day and Tim’s birthday on the front and Reagan’s birthday once we get back is making for a very busy and exciting May!

A swing, a car, and lots of sand

Sunday afternoon we took a drive out towards Annapolis to visit with the Weights and let the kids play on a day that wasn’t a birthday party. Turns out that they boys really do think that it must be a birthday when we show up, because Casey – whose birthday is coming up soon – asked if it was his birthday when we got there.

We do have awesome playgrounds near our house, but they don’t have swings, so Reagan has never been on one. She got to ride a few swings – on the Weights cool swingset and at the playground at the beach. She wasn’t too excited about it, but she didn’t hate it, either

The Weights live on a great cul-de-sac with a bunch of families who have some really good toys, including an electric jeep!

Then we had a fabulous dinner, reminiscent of the fabulous dinners we used to share when we were next door neighbors. After dinner, once the temperatures were a little cooler, we went down to a nearby beach. The last time we were at the beach it was the first week in February and we were in Huron. This was a much different experience, and Reagan was not shy about jumping right in.

She started out a bit civilized, but then ended up with soaking wet shorts.

A quick stop at Rita’s Water Ice rounded out the visit and was a great end to a fabulous weekend.
